WITHOUT DIRECTION
Greg grew up in a broken home. His father was incarcerated when Greg was only two, and his mother struggled with drug addiction. With no one to hold him accountable or point him toward something better, Greg found direction in the streets. He spent nights tagging, partying, and eventually doing drugs. He wasn’t thinking about a career, a family, or the man he wanted to become. He was just getting by.
TURNING POINT
Eventually, Greg’s mother had enough. She kicked him out and helped him enter the Transitional Living Center (TLC), a place for young adults to figure out their next steps. There, a fellow resident told Greg about Hope Now — a program that helped young adults with checkered pasts find jobs and people they could lean on. Greg decided to give it a try.
MORE THAN A JOB
At Hope Now, Greg met David, who became his counselor, along with Bryce, Vanna, and other men who invested in him. He took part in Bible studies, shared meals, pickup basketball, and rides around town hunting for jobs. For the first time, Greg was surrounded by men who showed him what it meant to serve, give their time, and genuinely care about someone’s future.
“I did not understand death and how to process that… That was a big thing.“
Hope Now gave Greg perspective, accountability, and examples worth following. They put him in a position where God could begin transforming his life.
“They never turned their back on me. They didn’t give up on me.“
LIFE TRANSFORMED
Today, Greg is a servant of Christ, a husband, and a father of two boys—a life the younger Greg would never have imagined possible. The lessons he learned through Hope Now still shape how he leads, serves, and raises his sons, and how he sees young people facing the same struggles he once did. As Greg puts it:
“They never turned their back on me. They didn’t give up on me.“
