Ugly Divorce
Growing up in a small town was not all that bad, according to Enedel. He felt like he got everything that he needed within his family. That was until his parents got a divorce. Enedel described it as an ugly parting. What made it worse was that his dad ended up going to prison for 14 years.
Common Bonds
Enedel found himself struggling to fit in, but he was able to connect with the local gangs. The common theme among all the guys he hung out with was this: they all came from broken homes. Enedel found that since they could not depend on their family, they could depend on each other. That was one of the things that he and his homies bonded over, and it was their struggle to survive.
Finding Hope Now
Then things changed for him when he arrived at Hope Now. He describes it as a place where he can share his struggles and yet receive hope that he can overcome it. He met guys just like him and he felt like if they could walk in victory, so could he. Enedel says that without God, he would not be able to enjoy the ordinary affairs of daily life: which is spending time with family and being a part of the community. In matters of faith, Enedel looks to John 6:35, and Romans 6:23 for guidance and strength.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.“
John 6:35
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Thank you for supporting men like Enedel. He is able to be a husband to his wife and a father to two teenage children that God has brought his way.
